This project is being undertaken by our Papua New Guinea partner organisation called the Young Missionary Alliance (YMA). The members of the organisation are young, energetic and influential professional Christian Papua New Guineans with a real heart for helping the country and its citizens in practical ways.
This is a follow up project to an earlier effort that provided two water tanks and associated equipment in the Trobriand Island group. Evaluation of the impact and community reaction to the earlier project was very positive, so this project aims to expand on this success.
This stage of the project will provide a much-needed water supply into an additional 3 villages in the same area using a range of water storage and reclaim methods, depending on the best fit for the local situation. Also, we are quite excited that a national retail chain in PNG has agreed to supply the water tanks at no cost, so we are covering the costs of transport, all the fittings as well as the installation.
We expect YMA to continue to develop projects in areas of water security and training. The budget of A$20,000 will cover this need.
